Like people, shorts come in all shapes and colors. With wide-cut high waist shorts made from destroyed denim , we immediately feel ready for a festival. But we also love elegant silk variants: in combination with a blazer, they accompany us to the office or for a round of cocktails with the girls. Even in summer 2018 there are no shorts that do not exist. What is new, however, are longer cuts that reach almost to the knee and can be found above all in elegant and sporty styles. On the other hand, there is a trend back with trousers that we have missed for a long time: Mainly because it is both beautiful and practical! Loose-fitting shorts with a belt for tying are also very comfortable, yet chic – waistband or creases add that certain something.
The current shorts with ruffles or check patterns also offer other extras . These variants as well as all wild-patterned are particularly compatible with otherwise clean looks. With a plain white t-shirt or nude-colored sandals you always look great! Torn jeans shorts are an all-round talent in 2018, like every year . They can be easily combined with everything and always look casual and young. In contrast to the striking trend shorts, jeans shorts fit both in simple and striking combinations.
Which shorts fit which figure?
Like all clothing, shorts should first of all fit the personality. What you like can usually be worn . However, the different shorts also have different superpowers: they can emphasize advantages or hide alleged problem areas. The only rule that should always be followed: The shorts of choice should always fit perfectly! We shouldn’t even invite models that cut into the skin or flutter around us like a flag around the mast in our closet.
- Small and petite women especially benefit from short shorts and high-waist cuts , because both make the legs look longer.
- Strong thighs are not a reason to not wear shorts: Who wants his legs look slim can with loose-fitting fit and flowing fabrics conceal . The only important thing is that the waistband loosely plays around the leg and does not cut into the thigh.

The shorter the bottom, the more fabric on the top : this basic rule can be applied to any outfit, but is particularly applicable to shorts. So that you are still well dressed even in very short summer pants, you can compensate for a lot of bare legs, for example with an airy, long-sleeved blouse with little neckline.
Far below = narrow above. Bottom narrow = top far : This equation works in most cases. Shorts that make the hips rounder (for example, through a paperbag waist or pleats) go well with figure-hugging tops, while tight shorts can even be worn with oversize shirts. A little tip: Wide tops give the body more waist when they are in the front of the shorts . In addition, the shorts remain visible even with long tops – after all, we don’t want to be suspected of being out and about without pants.
Shorts and shoes – a story in itself: with shorts, shoes make a big appearance because in shorts, shoes are not covered by other items of clothing. At most, the legs themselves can distract from them. A good styling guideline: The shorter the pants, the flatter the shoe . Very short shorts can otherwise look a bit too sexy with very high shoes. Should it be high heels with short shorts, a long-cut blazer (best goes over the buttocks) or a classic white shirt blouse can make the outfit a little more elegant and serious again. Ultimately, there are no limits to the possibilities: whether sandals, sneakers, espadrilles, mules or biker boots -our shorts are compatible with (almost) everything!
